CRYOTHERAPY

WHAT IS IT?

Whole Body Cryotherapy (WBC) stimulates the body’s natural healing abilities through exposure to extreme cold. Whole Body Cryotherapy was developed by 1978 by Dr. Yamouchi in Japan as a treatment for Rheumatoid Arthritis. In 1984, the German Rheumatologist, Professor Reinhard Fricke, brought Whole Body Cryotherapy to Europe, where it became increasingly popular. Over the past three decades it gained even more popularity as it’s performance enhancing and general health and wellness benefits have become more well known. In the United States, WBC became more well known when the 2010-2011 Dallas Mavericks used WBC during their NBA championship title run. Today many professional athletes among all sports use WBC to improve recovery time and celebrities use it for overall wellbeing. There is no other therapy known to elicit such a powerful, positive and holistic response.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

When your body is exposed to extreme temperature, the cold receptors on your skin send a message to your brain and central nervous system that your core temperature could be in danger of dropping. This forces the blood away from peripheral tissues, joints and muscle towards your core and internal organs. During the 2-3 minute session, your blood short loops through your natural filtration system (heart, kidney and liver) and removes toxins and inflammatory properties of the blood. After exiting the Cryo Spa, filtered blood flows back to the peripheral tissues with oxygen, nutrients and enzymes and improves circulation. Over the next 48 hours, the body returns to homeostasis by reducing pain and inflammation and increasing energy levels. Most importantly, the cold stimulates your body’s central nervous system, enhances immune function and improves other regulatory systems in the body. Recovery times from strenuous workouts and injury are improved and shortened.

CRYO T SHOCK

WHAT IS IT?

The Cryo T Shock by Pagani has been in premium spas throughout Europe and we are proud to be the first in the US to offer the Cryo T Shock. Cryo T Shock is the most innovative and versatile anti-aging device on the market to treat localized fat, to reduce cellulite, and to tone and tighten the skin. It uses state-of-the-art thermography and cryotherapy (thermal shock) to reshape the body. This is the first cost effective body contouring solution and won the Most Innovate Device at the Gicare 2014 International Expo in Paris.

Cryo T Shock offers CryoSlimming and CryoToning.

CryoSlimming safely and effectively uses thermal shock to naturally destroy fat cells without any damage to the skin. The Cryo T Shock breaks down fat cells, which your body naturally flushes out through the bloodstream and then the lymphatic system in days to weeks following the treatment. It is a safe, painless and a non-surgical alternative to liposuction. It is most similar to “Cool Sculpting” but is cheaper, painless and more effective.***

CryoToning helps reduce the appearance of cellulite, fine lines and wrinkles by stimulating collagen and elastin production while tightening muscles.

BENEFITS

• BODY SLIMMING AND CONTOURING
• TIGHTENS AND TONES SKIN
• REDUCES THE APPEARANCE OF CELLULITE
• STIMULATES COLLAGEN AND ELASTIN
• RELAXES MUSCLES
• SPEEDS UP CELLULAR ACTIVITIES AND REPAIR
• REDUCES PAIN AND INFLAMMATION
• IMPROVES BLOOD CIRCULATION

IS IT SAFE?

Yes, it is safe. It is a non-invasive treatment of adipose tissue to induce lipolysis – the breaking down of fat cells – to reduce body fat without damage to other tissues. It consists of a special developed technique where warm and cold are used and applied directly to the client’s skin.

CRYOSLIMMING VS CRYOTONING

CryoSlimming reaches colder temperatures that destroy the fat cells through a process known as apoptosis. CryoToning involves less cold temperature and therefore does not kill any fat cells. It stimulates the production of collagen and elastin.

WHERE CAN I DO THE TREATMENT?

CryoSlimming: stomach, love handles, under arms, bra-line, glutes, double chin, inner or outer thighs

CryoToning: face, arms, legs, stomach

WHAT TO EXPECT?

The CryoSlimming treatments can be performed once every 2 weeks and the CryoToning can be performed once per week. There is a physiological reason for this: CryoSlimming causes apoptosis and when this occurs and fat cells die wasted is formed. This will be eliminated through the blood and lymphatic system. The wasted will eventually be eliminated through the kidneys and waiting every two weeks ensures that the lymphatic system and kidneys are not overloaded.

The CryoSlimming results may be comprised by the natural waste cycle and risk of clogging of the pathways if the treatment is done less than every 14 days. This does not represent a significant risk but could compromise the results.

WHAT DOES THE SESSION FEEL LIKE?

The 20-30 treatments are executed manually through a slow massage over the selected area of the body. Each session will begin with clean skin followed by a light gel application. The session will then start with heat followed by cold. It is a non-invasive and painless treatment that feels like a light massage.

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?

There are generally no side effects apart from an increased urination over several days following the treatment.

In minimal cases there were the following side effects:

In some cases there were localized redness that disappeared after a few hours and in rare cases there was local pain that did not exceed 2 to 3 hours. There may also be some itching without consequences and often due to the reaction of certain cosmetic procedures used by clients; to avoid the chances of this do not use anything before coming in for this treatment. There were some experience of delayed onset muscle soreness from treatments on the stomach due to unintentionally engaging the abdominals, which disappeared later that same day.

HOW DOES THIS COMPARE TO OTHER COLD SCULPTING TREATMENTS?

This is very affordable, noninvasive and painless process that requires no anesthesia, has no risk of scarring or neuropathy, and only requires 10-30 minutes. Other methods of fat removal primarily involve a necrotic cell death by damaging fat with heat, high-intensity focused ultrasound or chemical injections. Each of these approaches pose a potential technical challenge, particularly with respect to targeting the right adipose tissue depth and unintended damage to other structures close or within the fat layer.

CAN I DO ANYTHING TO ENHANCE THESE TREATMENTS?

Yes, implementing a healthy lifestyle, good diet and increasing blood flow after the treatments. Adding massage compression like NormaTec and whole body cryotherapy is recommended to enhance the results.

WHEN CAN I SEE THE RESULTS?

CryoSlimming may require 3-5 sessions over several weeks and months to see the best results. CryoSlimming sessions are done once every 2 weeks as to allow for proper lymphatic drainage.

CryoToning results are more immediate and also may require multiple sessions to achieve optimal results.

HOW LONG DO THE RESULTS LAST?

Depending on the individual and depending on their lifestyle, the results last several months to several years. It is advisable to continue 2-3 sessions once every 6 months to maintain the results.

ARE THERE ANY CONTRAINDICATIONS?

Anyone with the following conditions should not do this treatment:

  • Severe Raynaud’s Syndrome
  • Very poor circulation
  • Cancer
  • Severe Diabetes
  • Pregnancy

HOW DOES THIS HELP WITH CELLULITE?

The CryoToning uses below zero temperatures that penetrate below the skin. Cellulite is caused by subcutaneous deposits of fat primarily in the legs and glutes. The Cryo T Shock triggers the fluids that bind the fat cells together to crystalize. This crystallization destroys the fat cells and the bonds holding the deposits together. Repeated sessions will slowly take away the upper layers of fat. The cells which have been destroyed enter the blood stream after which they are disposed of via the lymphatic system.

WHAT IS CELLULITE?

Cellulite is a popular term to describe fat deposits under the skin. It is characterized by dimpled or orang-peel appearance due to structural changes underneath the skin’s top layer. Cellulite is a perfectly normal and harmless condition, however it is a cosmetic concern for most people. Cellulite is a normal occurrence resulting from uneven fatty deposits, mostly below the waistline. In women, fat is arranged in large chambers underneath a fairly thin layer of skin. These chambers are separated by columns of collagen fiber. In overweight individuals, too much fat is being placed into these chambers causing the pitting or bulging of the skin. In addition, as we age, the fibers shrink and thicken, pulling the skin downward. This results in a quilt-like appearance on the skin surface, especially in the glutes, thighs and hips. Most women develop cellulite as they age and as many as 95% of women over the age of 30 develop some sort of cellulite. Female hormones also play an important role in the formation of cellulite. Estrogen stimulates the storage of fat, which is needed for pregnancy and lactation. In addition, during the later phases of pregnancy, estrogen causes the breakdown of collagen fibers. This breakdown sets the stage for the formation of cellulite. Progesterone may also contribute to the cellulite problem by weakening veins and causing water retention and weight gain.

Types of Cellulite

Stage I: Aqueous Cellulite

This type of cellulite is caused by water retention due to poor blood and lymphatic circulation. It is important to drain toxins and reactivate circulatory exchanges.

Stage II: Adipose Cellulite

This type of cellulite is often associated with excess weight. It is necessary to stimulate the natural release of fat.

Stage III: Fibrous Cellulite

This type of cellulite is harder to get rid of because it as been present for a long time, is compact and often painful.

The Cryo T Shock stimulates the skin and fatty tissue to soften them and make them less fibrous. At the same time, this stimulation helps to release fat and to activate blood and lymphatic circulation. Also, the hot and cold shocks the cells to stimulate natural fat release and firms skin to give it back it’s tonality and dimple free appearance.
